Information Technology and Human Factors (Year-Round Job Openings)

The rapid growth of devices (smartphone, tablets, robots, wearables, etc.) and the Internet has increased the amount of information that is being produced and accessed by society. In order to better utilize the data produced from millions of devices and systems, we are conducting research and development in a wide range of fields at the interface between information technologies and human factors. Our mission is to engage and enrich the public through the research and development of intelligent systems combining computational and physical capabilities for human use. A key component of our mission is making new discoveries in the hardware and software that interacts with physical devices to sense and change the state of the real world. Our discoveries will lead to industry innovations and contribute to the advancement of society by facilitating the interaction of humans with cyber-physical systems.
 

Type D (Non tenure-track position based on performance-based pay)

Type D is a fixed-term position under annual salary system designed to appoint a highly qualified research scientist to promote research project flexibly and effectively. The tenure is maximally 5 years. It may be extended only once based on the examination. A tenure examination does not apply to this position.

Title Research and Development in Human-centered Artificial Intelligence and Digital Service Architecture
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience We are recruiting research scientists who have an experience in machine learning, knowledge representation, simulation, data engineering and other related technologies and can proactively conduct research globally. In this position a researcher will engage in research and development of digital service architecture and new technologies for so-called "co-evolving AI," in which humans and AI can evolve together by exchanging newly acquired insights. 
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Engineering or closely related areas and a remarkable record of publications and achievements of external funding, and be highly motivated to develop research results for industry and society.
