Application Procedure

1. Available Positions

2. How to Apply

Advance Registration

  1. All applicants are requested to complete advance registration. Any application without advance registration is not acceptable.
  2. A confirmation email will be sent to you after completion of advance registration. You can find "Registration Number" in the email, and the number should be written in Form A of your application document.
  3. Up to 5 job opportinities can be chosen for this open recruitment, and please specify Entry IDs of your interests in your advance registration.
  4. The Entry IDs you choose in your advance registration should be given exactly in Form A of your application document. 

Application Documents

  • All the documents should be produced in accrodance with the following notes, otherwise, your application is not acceptable. A template package for application documents (A-H) is available here (MS-Word).
  • An application document must be a single PDF file without compress, including reprints of papers (Form E) and recommndation letters (Form I) if available.
  • The size of an application document must be smaller than 20 MB, otherwise, JREC-IN Portal may decline uploading the file.
  • A notification email will be automatically sent from JREC-IN to an applicant when application status is changed to *received* or *not received* after completion of document checking. Please be advised that a notification is not automatically sent upon submission and make sure to check your application status after receiving a notification email from JREC-IN.

A Application checklist
  • "Registration Number" is necessary to puroduce application document. Please confirm an email sent from AIST for confirming advanced registration.
  • Entry IDs should be identical ones as described in the confirmation email. 
B CV (Curriculum Vitae)
  • Photo image and email address should be placed in your CV.
  • Information in this format should be identical to ones in the confirmation email.
C List of publications and other achievements
  • Please do not change categorization and file format.
D Summaries of M. S. (if applicable) and Ph. D. degree
  • No more than 1-page each, including figures.
  • For applicants who are scheduled to earn Ph. D. degree, summary of current research activities for Ph. D. degree can be submitted.
E Reprints of publications
  • Up to 3 publications are acceptable for evaluations.
  • Please confirm that the electronic files are not protected by password (the files cannot be handled anymore). Scanning a printed copy of protected reprints is recommended.
F Summaries of publications (E)
  • Please place title of the publication, name of author(s), journal and publication year, volume and pages.
  • No more than 1-page each, including figures.
G Carrier summary
  • Please describe carrier highlights and core competence as a research scientist.
  • No more than 1-page, including figures.
H Future research plan in AIST.
  • Please describe your research plan in AIST, including short-term outcome (within about 5 years), and future direction and carrier planning for about 15 to 20 years.
  • No more than 1-page, including figures.
I Recommendation letter(s)
  • At least 1 letter (original version) is necessary for application.
  • Please attach a copy of it to your application document if avaialble.
  • Date of the letter should be April 1, 2018 or later.

Further Notes on I. Recommendation letter(s)
  • An AIST employee is not eligible to be a recommender.
  • The President of AIST, Dr. Ryoji Chubachi, should be addressee’s name in the letter. The letter should be sent by mail to the postal address below.
  • A physical signature or a personal seal of recommender is required on the letter.
  • If a recommendation letter is in a sealed envelop or a recommender wishes to send it by mail to AIST directly, an applicaint does not have to include its copy into his/her final application document to be submitted on JREC-IN. If a copy of the letter is avaialble at the time of application, to the contrary, attaching it to the final document is much appreciated. A copy of each recommendation letter and the other part of application document will be integrated into a single PDF finally.
  • An original recommendation letter is not necessarily required to be submitted at the time of application, but please be aware that a candidate must submit it by the final interview and that early submittion is more appreciated because it is a very important part of application document.

Submission

  • Submission of application documents should be made online via JREC-IN Portal (log-in required).
  • Information in JREC-IN Portal can be found from here.(JREC-IN number is posted later)
  • The application document should be produced as a single PDF file by using the template file.
  • File name should be “(Registration Number)-(Name).pdf,” such as “0999-0999-SansouTarou.pdf.”, without space.
  • File size should be less than 20 MB, and downsizing is necessary for uploading.
  • Please be adivsed that any submission via email is not acceptable. 

3. Selection Process

For the 2st Round of 2018 AIST Open Recruitment
(1) The 1st interview examination by research division

4. Administration of Personal Information

  • Submitted documents will not be returned.
  • Submitted documents will be used for the sole purpose of screening process.

5. For Foreign Applicants

  • Foreign applicants should acquire eligible status of residence by the first day of employment.
  • Eligible status of residence for working in AIST: (1) Researcher, (2) Permanent Resident, (3) Long-term Resident, (4) Spouse of Japanese National, or (5) Spouse of Permanent Resident.
  • The eligible status of “Professor” is not permitted for working in AIST, and the eligible status of residence should be changed to the suitable status listed above.
