3. Period of Term
Period of Term will be decided in the selection process (Maximally 5 years).
*When AIST finds it to be necessary, AIST may reemploy only once based on the examination.

Outstanding Research Scientist", the tenure cannnot be extended, but permanent employment may be applied following a screening based on his/her research achievement whithin the tenure of Type-D.

Ph.D. degree (Ph.D. candidates expected to earn a degree by the start date included) or equivalent skills and experience. Foreign nationals are required to obtain a work permit status acceptable at AIST.
*The following person is excluded.
- a person who has been sentenced to imprisonment without work or a severer punishment, and of whom the execution of the sentence has not been completed or to whom the sentence still applies.

Salaries will be determined based on ability, professional experience and performance.
Annual salary is comprised of base annual salary and performance-based pay.
Performance-based pay is decided annually based on research staff's performance.
