A society in which people live a long life in good health and at ease, and a sustainable society with reduced environmental load is desired. We are contributing to life innovation by developing new technologies to evaluate health and to promote drug discovery, as well as to maintain, improve, and recover health according to individual conditions. We are also contributing to green innovation by developing technologies to reduce environmental loads using bioprocesses.

Title Biomedical Research and Development through the Elucidation, Measurement, and Application of Biological Functions
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience To achieve the mission of AIST -creating innovations that will contribute to solving social issues such as declining birthrate and aging population, and strengthening industrial competitiveness- with novel biomedical technologies, we are looking for talented researchers with adequate knowledge and high experimental ability to promote leading international R & D in the following fields;
(1) "Elucidation of biological functions" such as clarification of mechanisms of life phenomenon and hunting useful marker molecules,
(2) "Measurement of biological function" such as development of analytical technology to evaluate life phenomena and measurement standardization to ensure reliability, and
(3) "Application of biological functions" such as engineering and redesign of biological functions.

Title Research and Development of Health and Medical Engineering
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience To create innovations that will contribute to social issues such as declining birthrate and aging population, as well as economic growth and industrial competitiveness, we seek outstanding researchers who will work on the following research topics
(1) Development of novel methods to challenge the limits of ergonomics, physiological biochemistry, and visualization of mental and physical data on humans and their samples, research on data utilization, and research on device technologies.
(2) Practical application and social implementation of new technologies related to health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment, healthcare, self-care, universal medical access, rehabilitation and nursing care, and living environment.  
(3) Research on elemental technologies that form the basis for the above and their fundamentals.  
We look forward to applications from highly specialized individuals in science and engineering, biomedical, and other fields who have excellent research and development achievements or commercialization experience and who are eager to work in collaboration both within and outside the institute. We also welcome challenges from other fields and industries. Degrees are not required.

Title  Development of biological devices to measure cellular response
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience The acquisition of biological information by label-free and minimally invasive imaging of cells and tissues is becoming increasingly important in the fields of diagnostic technology, regenerative medicine, and drug development. In the research project, we will develop the chip devices for acquiring biological information of cells and tissues using label-free imaging technologies such as Raman spectroscopy. We are looking for a researcher with strong interest in our research project, who has research experience and skills in analyzing and evaluating bioinformation for biomedical diagnosis, such as Raman spectrum, using information mathematical science and systems biology, and who can contribute to the research and development of medical-engineering collaboration to implement the bioanalysis algorithms into medical devices such as biochips and cellular tissue devices.
