National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ)

As the national metrology institute (NMI), we are focusing on the development and dissemination of measurement standards, promotion of measurement standards utilization, development of measurement technologies related to measurement standards, legal metrology work and training of experts. Our activity covers engineering, physical, material, and chemical measurement standards. It also covers development of measurement and analytical instrumentation. We also coordinate international activities on metrology standards as a national representative.

Type A (Tenure-track position)/Type B (Tenured position)

The below-listed job opportunities are for both Type A (normally for 5 years) and Type B - which type of position applies will be determined following the selection process. The term for tenure track position may be shortened, e.g. 3 years or 4 years, commensurate with the candidate's previous achievements and professional experience. Research staff on tenure track are entitle to undergo a tenure rewiew one and a half years before the term ends.

Title Development of Analytical Techniques for Direct Quantification of Solid Samples

In quality control of product manufacturing and screening of pollutants, it is extremely important to establish a technique for analyzing and evaluating the components contained in a solid sample, with high reliability, convenience and speed. Title Research and Development on Evaluation Technology for Thermal Energy Transport Characteristics
Details of Job Opportunity
Innovative heat exhaust and heat insulation materials based on the spectral control of phonons are being developed for the realization of a sustainable energy-saving society. For these characteristics, a new means for evaluating the thermal energy transport characteristics involving state of phonons is required. We will work on the development of evaluation technology for thermal energy transport characteristics that fuses crystallographic and structural information, and the development of new thermal control technology that makes use of this technology. Researchers who have basic knowledge and experience in academic fields related to heat transport analysis and control, with motivation for work on the development of new measurement technology are invited.
