Geological information is essential for a country like Japan, located at a tectonically active area, to ensure a safe and secure society. The Geological Survey of Japan gathers, compiles, and provides geological information and promotes its wider use. We also develop technologies to overcome various difficulties related to global environment protection, exploration of minerals and energy resources, and natural disaster mitigation, and coordinate international cooperation as a national representative.

Title Research on utilization of geothermal and shallow geothermal resources
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience Shallow Geothermal and Hydrogeology Team has been conducting research on multidisciplinary assessments for the sustainable utilization of ground source heat pump systems, as well as to promote the systems appropriate to the hydrogeological and social conditions of study sites. Recruitment is open for an engineer or earth scientist who can contribute to the team with expertise in building energy conservation assessment. Specifically, the ones with experiences in modeling and simulation of GSHP systems, and life cycle assessment based on environmental economics methods are welcome. An enthusiasm for exploration on social implementation of the system is also desirable. We also recruit an earth scientist motivated to development of supercritical geothermal resources with expertise in geology, rock mechanics, and AI.
