Industrial development of “Mahoro”, the biomedical experiment robot driven by industrial robot technology

Points of Interest

Together with Yasukawa Electric Corporation, AIST has developed the general-purpose humanoid robot “Maholo” with the aim of automating bench work in the biomedical field.

Our Maholo robot can already perform certain tasks more accurately and reproducibly than experienced lab technicians. Since both its range of application and its performance are being continually improved, experiments will be performed with high accuracy, and dangerous tasks will be performed without the presence of humans, enabling safer and more efficient drug discovery.
