Integrated Research Centers


In April 2025, we have established Integrated Research Centers to address various social problems by integrating technologies across a wide range of research fields and maximizing the capabilities of AIST.

*For some positions, applicants may be assigned to a relevant research departments instead of the Integrated Research Centers, based on their experience, aptitude, and other factors.
*The selection process and application guidelines are the same as those for positions available at research departments.

Title Research and Development on Advanced Conversion and Utilization Process for Carbon Resources
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience We are looking researchers who are motivated to develop CCU technology that converts CO2 into useful substances such as fuel, chemical raw materials, and synthetic gas using electricity and hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources. Title Research and development on modeling, monitoring, and behavior analysis of geological CO2 storage and CO2 mineralization
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience We recruit a researcher to conduct research and development—utilizing laboratory experiments, field studies, and numerical simulations—on topics such as geological CO2 storage, CO2 mineralization in basalt, enhanced rock weathering, carbon recycling CO2 geothermal power generation, and natural hydrogen production. The work will encompass geological modeling, flow modeling, monitoring, and behavioral analysis regarding geochemistry and geomechanics. It is desirable that the applicant has basic knowledge in hydraulics, geology, geochemistry, geophysics, or rock mechanics. Title Research, Development, and Social Implementation of Advanced Nondestructive Inspection Technology for Resilient Infrastructure and Society
Job Summary and Essential/Desirable Skills and Experience To address the aging of social infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, utility poles, dams, and railway facilities, we conduct research and development on advanced nondestructive inspection and diagnostic technologies using X-ray imaging and computed tomography (CT), optical sensing, laser measurement, image analysis, artificial intelligence (AI), and related technologies, with a strong emphasis on practical implementation. Our research includes visualization of degradation and damage inside large-scale structures using quantum beams and optical sensing, characterization and degradation assessment of infrastructure materials and coatings, and advanced and automated inspection and diagnosis through AI and image analysis.
