“Photovoltaic Power Generation System Maintenance and Operation Know-how and Related Technology” workshop

On Friday, February 24, 2017 FREA held the second FY 2016 workshop with AIST and Fukushima Electric Power Co., Ltd. entitled “Photovoltaic Power Generation System Maintenance and Operation Know-how and Related Technology” at the Iwaki Business Innovation Center,.
This workshop was held to publicize the results of the FY2016 Program for Promoting Technologies Invented by Industry in Disaster Areas in Tohoku, in which Fukushima Electric Power Co., Ltd. was adopted. Seventeen people attended the workshop, including those involved in the photovoltaic power generation business in Fukushima Prefecture, and speakers provided information and exchanged opinions with participants.

Lecture Outline
With the introduction of Feed-in Tariff (FIT) systems, many photovoltaic power plants are now in operation, and various problems and corresponding countermeasures (operation and maintenance) have arisen, so it is important to understand proper maintenance and why it is necessary. At this workshop, in addition to the actual power generation performance at photovoltaic power plants, the results of failure case analysis, and data evaluation methods, we also introduced research on smart grids, which are essential for efficiently supplying the photovoltaic power that is generated.

  • “Introduction to power generation performance evaluation and failure cases at Fukushima Airport Mega Solar”
Speaker: Yasuhiro Nakamura, AIST Renewable Energy Research Center, Energy Network Team
  • “Smart Grids Made by Smart Photovoltaic Power Generation”
Speaker: Kenji Otani, AIST Renewable Energy Research Center, Energy Network Team Leader
