The Second Information Exchange Forum on the Utilization of Ground-Source Heat Pump System in FY2016

The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) hosted “The Second Information Exchange Forum on the Utilization of Ground-Source Heat Pump System in FY2016” at the Fukushima Technology Centre on Friday, August 26, 2016. The research achievements of Shallow Geothermal and Hydrogeology Team, FREA were introduced since its opening.
After welcome speach by Mr. Yasuhiro Hattori, project director of Fukushima Centre for Industrial Promotion, Dr. Youhei Uchida, leader of Shallow Geothermal and Hydrogeology Team, made a presentation on the outlines of his research team.
The forum comprises three parts with 10 oral presentations: (1) geological features and groundwater environment in Aizu Basin (three presentations); (2) suitability assessment for ground-source heat pump (GSHP) utilization (three presentations); and (3) GSHP-related projects in AIST’s Program for Promoting Technologies Invented by Industry in Disaster Areas in Tohoku (four presentations).
Reported subjects widely ranged from fundamental research on geological features and groundwater to applied research on GSHP suitability assessment and, to practical research in collaboration with companies as well. Although some presentations contain highly technical contents, discussions were nonetheless lively as attendees from geology-related companies asked many questions. The number of attendees reached as many as 80.
The results reported in this forum are very useful for GSHP-related companies.
