On Tuesday July 24, 2018, Taisaku Hiraki, as Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Parliamentary Secretary of Cabinet Office, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Reconstruction toured Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture.
First, Tesuhiko Kobayashi, Vice-President of AIST, spoke Welcome remarks and introductory overviews of AIST. Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General of FREA, spoke introductory overviews of FREA.
After that, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Hiraki proceeded to laboratory tour. A local company (Kankyo System Yamano Co., Ltd.) explained their products which developed through the Promoting Technologies Program invented by Industry in Disaster Areas in Tohoku*. Hirohide Furutani, Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center, explained various research themes in the Renewable Energy Demonstration Field and the Energy Control Building.
