 “The Renewable Energy Seminar in YAMAGATA” on November 15th

The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) held “The Renewable Energy Seminar in YAMAGATA” jointly with Yamagata Research Institute of Technology at YAMAGATA TERRSA on November 15, 2019, with 120 attendees.

The seminar started with the welcome remarks by Tatsunori Sato, Director-General of Yamagata Research Institute of Technology, followed by Hironobu Okumura, Director of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Department of Tohoku Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI-Tohoku).

The seminar consisted of three-parts; the first part was about “FREA’s introduction”. Masaru Nakaiwa, Director-General of FREA, gave an introductory overview of FREA titled “Activities of FREA to support projects related to renewable energy”. Following this, Hirohide Furutani, Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center, gave a lecture entitled “FREA's contribution to the realization of a hydrogen society”, and Tetsuya Kogaki, Leader of Wind Power Team, presented the research activities entitled “Wind power generation technology for full-scale offshore development”.

In the second part, lectures from three people were given upon "Yamagata Prefecture Initiatives";
“Energy Strategy in Yamagata Prefecture” by Toru Takahashi, Manager of the Energy Policy Promotion Division, Environment Energy section, Yamagata Prefectural Government,“Towards Yamagata RE100” by Shuichi Miura, Professor, Department of Architecture and Environmental Design, Tohoku University of Art and Design,
and “Solar Power Generation and Regional Revitalization” by Takashi Numazawa, Managing Director of POWER E NEXT Co., Ltd.,  

The third part focused on “Collaboration with FREA”. Masahiko Katsuragi, Senior Managing Director of Japan Groundwater Development Co., Ltd., Yasuhiro Hattori, Managing Director of EnergyAgency. FUKUSHIMA, and Michio Kondo, Supervisory Innovation Coordinator of FREA presented “About Joint Research with FREA”, ‘’Initiatives for activities and commercialization of Fukushima Renewable Energy Research Association’, and “Towards promotion of commercialization through collaboration with FREA”, respectively.
