2017 Research Results Briefing of the Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST

 The Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA) held the 2017 Research Results Briefing by the Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST at the Koriyama View Hotel Annex in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture on Tuesday May 30th. 271 people attended the briefing, and 136 joined the social gathering.
The guests were greeted by Mr. Toshiyuki Hata, Vice Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, and a keynote speech was given by Mr. Takuya Yamazaki, Director of New and Renewable Energy Division, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Department, Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). Following a brief introduction of Fukushima Prefecture’s policies and an outline of FREA, a presentation on the latest research and development at FREA was made, including potential maps of offshore wind conditions and geothermal energy, as well as a hydrogen energy storage technology that can be used for building management.
In addition, speakers from companies and universities conducting joint research with FREA gave lectures regarding the Program for Promoting Technologies Invented by Industry in Disaster Areas in Tohoku, and efforts in human resource training, and various researchers exhibited posters reporting their latest research results.
Furthermore, at the tour meeting on Monday, May 29th, guests saw FREA’s newest equipment.
