AIST has eight regional research bases throughout Japan (Hokkaido, Tohoku, Tokyo Waterfront, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, Shikoku, and Kyushu) to contribute to regional innovation.Each regional research base has its own priority research fields based on the industrial structure, technological needs, etc. of the region. The regional research bases strive to offer high-level research results to regional industries.
