AIST concludes MOU with KOCI of Korea

The AIST concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on comprehensive cooperation with the Korea Research Council for Industrial Science and Technology(KOCI). The signing ceremony on the MOU was held at the ANA Hotel in Tokyo on February 8, 2002. Dr. Kyu Tae Park, chairman of KOCI, and Dr. Hiroyuki Yoshikawa, president of AIST, signed the MOU on the cooperative promotion of joint research projects and information/personnel exchange for five years. The KOCI is a governmental organization that works under the Prime Minister and supervises seven research institutes in Korea, listed below.

KRICT (Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology)
KIMM (Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials)
KITECH (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology)
ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute)
KERI (Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute)
KIOM (Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine)
KFRI (Korea Food Research Institute)

The KOCI plays an important role in the promotion of industrial science and technology in Korea through its activities such as allocation of research budget to the affiliated institutes, evaluation of their research results, and contributions of reports and recommendations to the Cabinet as shown on its homepage. http://www.koci.re.kr/
