Green-IT
IT equipment are consuming 5% of total electricity in Japan and rapidly growing because of the wide-spreading cloud computing. Not only energy conservation technology in IT is a social mission to cope with the global warming, but replacing conventional social activities with IT improves total energy efficiency. AIST's Green-IT program recruits researchers for devices in all-optics network, organic display, non-volatile memory, laser manufacturing, and efficient data center operation, namely green cloud technology. AIST expects applicants from electrical engineering and electronics, materials science, process engineering, applied physics, and information science.

Advanced Device Innovation Arena
Most innovations in these decades are driven by electronics devices such as transistors, semiconductor LSI, computers, CCD sensors, liquid crystal display, etc. Modern nanotechnology is pushing forward further miniaturization and integration with novel function components.
