Advanced Device Innovation Arena
Most innovations in these decades are driven by electronics devices such as transistors, semiconductor LSI, computers, CCD sensors, liquid crystal display, etc. Modern nanotechnology is pushing forward further miniaturization and integration with novel function components. AIST is recruiting researchers for switching devices based on functional oxide, silicon photonics, and computational device design. AIST expects applicants from electrical engineering and electronics, materials science, process engineering, applied physics, physics, and information science.

Scientific IT Service
Industrial shift from manufacturing to service has continued. AIST's service research focuses on the scientific approach to the service interactions between suppliers and customers intervened by service processes based on the observation of human behaviors, and is trying to produce new and efficient services particularly in medical and daycare fields, as well as applications of robots to services.　AIST expects applicants from computer science, information science, software engineering, mathematics, applied mathematics, human medical engineering, electronic engineering, applied physics, mechanical engineering, and social science.
