Aiming at the ambitious target of high efficiency exceeding 40% with low electricity cost, non-conventional science and technologies such as hetero-epitaxial growth, novel thin film material, light management and quantum effects are being extensively investigated under the NEDO project on "Innovative solar cells" since 2008. This 5th International symposium will be held to present the recent achievements in the project from the three groups involved in this project: AIST, Univ. Tokyo, and Tokyo Tech. It will consist of overviews from group leaders, topical presentations from group members, and invited presentations by leading scientists from international research organizations. The venue is Tsukuba international congress center "EPOCAL TSUKUBA".
We hope this 5th International symposium will promote progress on innovative solar cell technologies and foster international cooperation. We will welcome all the participants to the symposium in the scientific city, Tsukuba.
