Preparation of activated carbon aerogels derived from poly(vinyl chloride) and their properties for electric double-layer capacitor |
| 概要 |
The Carbon aerogels were derived from poly(vinyl chloride) solution via dehydrochlorination with a strong base, supercritical drying with carbon dioxide, stabilization and carbonization. From the carbon aerogels, the activated carbon aerogels were prepared by applying activation with carbon dioxide gas. The relation between porous structure and properties for electric double-layer capacitor of the activated carbon aerogels was investigated using nitrogen gas adsorption, density measurement and galvanostatic charge-discharge test. The surface area of the carbon aerogels was considerablly increased due to the introduction of the micropores with activation. The activated carbon aerogels showed higher capacity and superior rate-performance as compared to the conventional activated carbons. The capacity of 135 F g-1 was attained in the organic electrolyte system for the activated carbon aerogels with BET surface area of 1300 m2 g-1. The capacity per unit mass of the specimen increased with increasing the surface area, while the fraction of the micropores making no contribution to the formation of the electric double-layer increased. |
