1.International Research Cooperation

@Basic and also applied researches on materials and chemistry covering a wide variety of research fields are carried out at our Institute, in order to contribute to the development of industries and to improve the quality of life. NIMC is cooperating with various countries, including developing and developed countries under various schemes for joint R & D projects, exchange of researchers and information exchange, in order to develop our research activities and also to contribute to international society.

Joint Government / Private Sector Research

Observation Tour

Observation tours in NIMC are accepted unless they impede thebusiness. Applications should be filed with the TechnicalInformation Office at least a month in advance, which containobject of observation, date and time, number of visitors, etc.

3. Transfer of Research Results

Research results of NIMC are widely announced through various publications and presentations in meeting in of domestic and overseas academic societies,etc. Besides, patented inventions and other technical information are utilized by private enterprises and other institutions. And, our staffs accepted many awards.

Contribution to Academic and Other Societies

NIMC attaches importance to various kinds of academic societies,associations and research groups as fields of presentation of itsresearch results, and expects to contribute to the progress ofstudies and researches through presentations in these societies,etc. and to spread its results to the industrials circles, etc.The number of announcements both by publications and by verbal presentations is about 1,800 per years.

Industrial Property and Licensing

NIMC's patents and utility models as well as pending inventions and contrivances are as shown on the right. Such industrial properties can be licensed with appropriate fees. Licensing agreements for such patents and other rights amount to 48 cases for 56 companies as of March, 2000. Recently, joint applications and joint patents with private entities have increased and numbers of such cases are shown in the bottom row.
